9 Torture Goblins

Deep into the game's story in Act Two, players will eventually make it to Moonrise Towers. Upon reaching this milestone, players will be met by Z'rell, who will place a heavy burden on their shoulders.

Several goblin prisoners are on the chopping block, and the player is asked what their fate should be. Players with the Dark Urge option will have the ability to slay the goblins themselves by using the magic of the cryptid inside their heads.

8 Killing Isobel at the Last Light Inn

During Act 2, things begin to ramp up as the player gets closer and closer to the climax and the source of the creeping darkness covering the Shadow-Cursed Lands. After a combat encounter and saving the life of Isobel the Cleric, later on the player will be approached by Sceleritas, who will promise power in exchange for the Cleric's life.

Following this request will lead to players making enemies of most of the Last Light Inn and even having to face some of them in battle. Isobel is a kindhearted soul who also fuels the spell protecting the Last Light Inn; upon her death, the spell will fail, and the Inn will be attacked.

7 Kick The Squirrel

For many, in the early hours of the game, one of the most wholesome moments is coming upon an innocent squirrel once reaching the Emerald Grove. While many options are available to the player, one even involving befriending the little animal, the Dark Urge has a more unfortunate path when dealing with the furry critter.

Upon first encountering the squirrel, it will be hostile and even attack the player. When playing as a Dark Urge, the player may kick the squirrel, which will lead to a grotesque show of force.

6 Slay Minthra For More Power

In the middle of Act 1, players will eventually have to deal with the Goblin Camp. However, one of the options is to join the opposition and raid the Emerald Grove. By doing this, players open up the option to have a budding romance with the Dark Elf, Minthara.

Minthara has an extensive story as the game progresses, but for players following their darker urges, after consummating their relationship, the option appears to deal with Minthara permanently and rip the parasite from her skull.

5 Kill Alfira

Slay The Budding Adventurer In The Dead of Night

During Act 1 of Baldurs Gate 3, players can either save or condemn the Emerald Grove. By choosing the latter, a previously met young bard will follow the player to their camp and ask to join them on their adventure. The entire party has no objections, and Alfira jumps for joy at the chance to have her own magical experiences.

Unfortunately, Alfira's hopes are slain as the player awakens, covered in her blood with her mutilated corpse at their feet. This is one of the more gruesome choices of the Dark Urge that has no rhyme or reason for happening.

4 Crush Dollie The Pixie

When first entering the Shadow-Cursed Lands in Act 2, players will be plagued by the supernatural darkness that can devour them if they are not careful. Through a series of curious events, some smooth talking, and a chance encounter, players will receive the Moon Lantern, which will aid them in traversing the dangerous region.

While traveling with the lantern, a strange voice reveals itself trapped inside the lantern and wants out. Releasing the voice reveals a tiny pixie; after freeing the rapscallion, the Dark Urge will rise to the surface and offer a dismal course of action to squash the pixie and snuff out her light forever.

3 Killing Padrina

Murder A Paralyzed Tiefling For No Reason

When making it to the Emerald Grove in Act 1 of Baldur's Gate 3, players will come across a locked shed where an injured Tiefling will be sitting on the floor. Upon further investigation, it's revealed that the Tiefling is Padrina, and she is paralyzed.

Highly defensive, Padrina berates the player, which sparks the wrath of the Dark Urge. Defenseless and secluded, the player may victimize the young woman and end her dismal life right on the spot.

2 Take Gale's Hand

There is a Dark Urge choice that's available nearly as soon as the player gains free control of their character. When exploring the first region of Act 1, players will come across a rift portal where Gale will stick his hand out and ask for help. This is typically where players will first encounter Gale and recruit him to their party.

While usually, a player would help Gale and pull him out of the portal, the Dark Urge instead separates Gale from his appendage, dramatically changing the storylines available to the player. Gale remains trapped behind the portal, but his severed hand ends up in the player's inventory and can be used in quests down the road.

1 Coerce Kagha Into Killing Arabella

Another dark Urge choice reveals itself early on in the game during Act 1 while exploring the Emerald Grove. The player's first encounter with Kagha will see her disciplining a young Tiefling child who was caught stealing. Kagha will have the girl cornered, and dealing with the rising tensions from the Goblin attack, she will use her animal familiar to frighten the girl and threaten her.

While watching from the sidelines, the player can step in and rescue the Tiefling, either through persuasion or combat. The Dark Urge, however, may choose to manipulate the situation, which will lead to the snake biting the young girl and her succumbing to the poison. This has far-reaching implications for both the player's relationship with Kagha, and how the Tiefling refugees view them.
